CPU vs MEMORY!

Hi all!
I have an AMD2400 CPU(266)with 2x256 DDR266 memory.My question
is their any advantage of using DDR 333 memory? My board will support
DDR333 memory.

Thank you Kindly,
William

Not really. If you're running Dual Channel probably none.

Unless you want to lovelock, of course.

Memory bandwidth for the CPU is limited by the FSB, so there's little point
in making the memory bus run faster.

The only advantage is when not running Dual Channel, as DMA devices such as
sound cards, RAID controllers, most other PCI devices, etc. could
potentially "steal" bandwidth from the CPU, but the second channel can give
these devices "free" bandwidth. This is something that people who mis use
and misunderstand benchmarks rarely know... Dual Channel helps out when you
have high I/O from other devices, but of course, it doesn't show up in your
classic memory benchmark, especially as most other apps are purposely
stopped when the benchmark is run.

Sure. This means that data will move in and out of RAM to the CPU ~25% faster than 266Mhz
DDR RAM.

With 266 MHz FSB on a nForce2-board, it's best to keep the memory at
the same speed as the FSB.

Adding more memory could be an idea if you run quite many apps at the
same time, work with huge datasets etc, but replace your memory with
333 MHz will not gain you anything.

Geezus, I read it 3 times as well and thought it said *lovecock*,
glad yer cleared that one up.
