i plan on upgrading my computer with either a new CPU or a new mobo.
but i only have enough cash for one (or i could buy both and be broke:p)
what im lookin for is a good CPU (AMD preffered), and a good mobo.

i was thinkin of a 64bit +3500 939pin CPU wise. or is there a better buy? $350 (195 pounds) or less. i have no problems OCing

or a .... can some one give me a good motherboard reccomendation? no more than $200 please (110 pounds)

with the motherboard, i have a 6800GT AGP card and have no intention of replacing it with a PCI-E version...so PCI-E is out (can i save money cause of that?). It was posted in a diffrent thread that the prices of AMD CPUs were going to drop soon, but im am unsure of when.
if i can i plan on buying one component at a time, unless i have cash to spare.

all suggestions are apreciated, thanks!

if you dont have a 64bit setup at the moment which it doesn't look like then you'll have to buy both a CPU and new mobo

If your not running a 64 bit setup then ME_2001 is right

If you want to stay AMD then it looks like you'll have to save some more money and buy both Mobo and processor if you want a performance hike...

i read a post on here that amd cpus are going to go down in price
i dont know if its true or when its going to happen

but i would sugest finding out abt it
and yes go for 64 bit nice and powerful.

one other suggestion, GO FOR THE BEST MOTHERBOARD THATS AVAIBLE
dont go for a cheap crappy one

i think the most important part of a pc is the motherboard and its only right to put in the best!

:)

go for what CPU you can afford and make sure its on the new venice core, a 3500 will be a good place to start and you can upgrade to the FX series as time goes by, the only AMD 64 motherboards with AGP that i know of use VIA chipsets

ive seen a motherboard that takes both PCI-E X16 and AGP based video cards (on or the other of course)
but ive heard that the AGP part takes a 30-50% performance hit! im going to check up on that...
