Could not open connection to fax service

I am having some strange problems with setting up a shared fax

I installed the fax modem, installed the fax service. When I open the fax services manager it tell me "[Fax (local)] Could not open connection to fax service. The fax service might not be started or the computer name might be incorrect." I click ok and the manager comes up but there are no modems showing

if I right click on Fax (local) and go to properties, I get the message "Access Denied

I have the Shared Fax installed in printers and faxes, but if I right click on it and go to properties I get "You do not have security permissions to complete this operation. Contact the Fax administrator for more information." I am logged on as the Administrator

I click on ok and it goes into the properties. Any ideas what is going on or how to fix it?

did you change the name of the computer?
i just had the same problems and i beleive it is directly related to the
name change i did.
i can't change the name of the computer back now because it is now a DC and
i need it the new name.
but perhaps you are in a situation to change the name back if, in fact, you
did change the name.

I have not changed the name at all. Tried 2 different modems, I can query both modems. but still get the same errors.
