cordless mouse and keyboard

Trying to do a recovery using the packard bell diskette, when I insert the
floppy and on the pc, it goes to the recovery page but it does not detect the
corledd mouse nor the cordless keyboard, so how can I 'press' ok to proceed
with the recovery. After changing the battery for both the mouse/keboard,
pree the connect on the 'receiver'and the mouse/kb does not help. Any idea
where I go wrong? Thanks

You may be are using ta USB keyboard/mouse. You will need a standard PS/2
keyoboard and acces the computer's BIOS setup and turn on USB keyboard or
"Leagacy keyboard" support.

Assuming that the wireless receiver in contected to the computer thru a
USB port, you can try to find a setting in your BIOS to Enable legacy
devices on USB.

Failing that, find an old wired keyboard and mouse.

Kurt why hasn't Microsoft released wireless keyboards for 98SE? I am sure
they could develop the technology. Also, the latest Intellipoint driver on
98SE just plain sucks. You have to use an older driver if you want to use
the forward/backward buttons on a Microsoft Explorer 3.0 USB and PS/2
Compatible mouse. Thanks in advance and have a great night.

I tried using both the ps2 mouse and kb, that does not work. So I tried
using the usb kb and ps2 mosue, thats does not work either.(dont have usb
mouse). As a last resort, I use the wireless receiver which is connected to
the pc thru the usb port. The pc was working using the receiver. Just
wondering if it has to do with the virus scan of the hd. In any case, I wish
to do the recovery. How can I press "ok" to proceed with the recovery///////

Use a standard keyboard and mouse when installing Windows.

Very weird. Nothing comes to mind at the moment, but if something does
I'll get back to you.

Yeah, thanks that was what I was afraid of and then there will be only one
line of Microsoft code that hackers can easily target. IMO, Microsoft may be
digging their own grave with this decision but far be it from me who started
using computers at 7 to question a company such as Microsoft on this
decision. < I know you know that I am being very sarcastic Kurt> <smile>
