My optical mouse (Packard Bell) has stopped working. Batteries ok. It's
something simple I know but Device Manager says it working. What could be
wrong? Is there anything I can try?

Packard Bell? Sounds pretty old. It might be time for a new mouse --
they are cheap.

Press the Send button on the bottom of the mouse and the search button
on the sending unit, so they can discover each other.
