copying photo's from my pc to a cd

I am trying to copy photo files from my computer to a cd. I have followed
intructions fully but still it doesn't work. I select my photos and then
click copy selected items in file and folder tasks. A new pop up comes on the
screen saying copying in progress. The problem is it dosen't progress! The
pop up looks like it is thowing the files to a new location but the bar at
the bottom dosen't move. Can you help please?

After you select your photos, look at the menu on the left under "Picture
Tasks", not "Folder tasks".
The last item under Picture Tasks should be Copy to CD. Click on this.

yes did this then a box poped up in the top left hand corner of my screen
saying "copy here" so i clicked on this and then nothing!

Not supposed to do this if you selected the Copy to CD command under Picture
Task.
Check if this drive is Enable to record with XP.
Right click on your CD drive, click on Properties, click on the Recording
tab in the opening window. There is a box there "Enable....". Is there a
checkmark in this box? If not, enter one and then try to record. If there is
one already get back to us and tell us about how old this computer is and
what kind and version of other CD copying software you have (stuff like
Roxio or Nero to copy music).

I have no problem writting music to a cd. So my disc drive must be enabled.
When i try to check this, i go to device manager then right click on the cd
drive click properties. I am then pesented with a series of tabs 'General,
properties, dvd reigion, volumes, driver and details. But no recording tab?
My cd drive that i am using is 'Ide dvd-rom 16x' My computer is almost 2
years old. The only cd copying sofware i have is pinnacle instant cd/dvd. As
i said when i click copy to cd a small white box apears in the top left hand
corner of my screen with four headings to click 'copy here, move here, create
shortcuts here or cancel' I then was clicking the copy here but nothing
happens?

I believe you, your drive is working, you have been using it, but you have
copying software installed preventing you to use XP to copy. Yes your drive
is "Enabled" but not "Enabled" for XP.
I have no problem with this, you can use this music copying software to copy
photos to a CD if you want (it probably can, you just select copy data files
instead of music files) but this software has taken over XP. If you want to
copy with XP you have to get it back.
I did not ask you to go to device manager, there is no Recording tab there.
Simple, open My Computer, your CD drive will be listed there under Device
with removable storage. Right click on it, click on Properties, click on the
Recording tab in the opening window and check "Enable..."
This should bring back XP for copying photos to a CD, provided that when you
open the folder and select the photos you then look to the menu on the left,
under Picture Tasks, and click on Copy to CD.
If you then use your software to copy music again, no problem. It will take
over again and copy your music.

I want to use xp to copy so i followed your intructions clicked to open 'my
computer' right clicked on my disc drive, clicked on properties. The next
menu that come up has no recording tab. The only tabs it has are general,
auto play, hardware and sharing.
