Copying photos from Internet

My problem is that when I try to save an image from the Internet, I encounter
2 problems.
The first is that, although the original photo is in .jpg format, I am only
offered .art or .bmp to save photo.
Next, after I select .bmp and save it, when I click on the file in its
folder, Windows Viewer says there is No Preview Available. When I right
click on the file's Properties, I noticed that the Summary tab is empty:
there is no summary, ie, no photo.
Why has this happened?
I never has this problem with Windows 98.
 
First, clean out your TIF folders by going to Control Panel>Internet
Options>General>Delete Files

That will allow the saving of jpg's as jpg's

For the second problem........I don't have an answer.
