Copy files DVD + or - RW discs

I'm on Windows XP Home SP2. I just want to copy files (folder at a time)
from my hard disk to my a DVD disk in my re-writable DVD drive. I know how
to do this easily with CDs, but I want the added capacity DVD's hold. Do
I need an additional software utility? Is there an easy free-ware utility
that will suffice? I'm looking for basic drag and drop copying of regular PC
(Word, ppt, pdf, jpeg) files and that's about it.

you can use windows to do it. simply drop and drag the files you want to
burn to the drive that you want to burn them to. make sure a dis in in
there. they copy the file under a new heading of waiting to burn...on the
left of the screen is a tag that prompts you to burn them..it is really
quite simple.

as to whether a + or - DVD it is entirely dependant on your drive. some use
one type only but most new ones use both.

Windows XP does not natively support writing to DVD or DVD -/+ RW.
You will need third party software that has packet writing capability to do
what you wish to do.
Nero and Roxio both make good products.

Another option (Free) is CDBurnerXP Pro. Has most of the functions of
Nero/Roxio. Does require .DotNet or the .DotNet Runtime to work.

Thank you. I did try to do that by opening the drive so that it looked like
an open blank folder. When I tried to drag the files into I received another

typical computer geek was wrong. You can't copy files to DVD with the
native tools in XP. 3rd party software is needed.
