Cookies in IE 7.0

It would appear that I am among the many.
Since loading Internet Explorer 7.0 my computer will not allow Cookies and
sometimes they are necessary to function correctly.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions-from reading previous posts I
suspect not.
I have tried all the usual avenues to get advice but sadly there does not
appearmto be a solution-unless you knoe otherwise.
I have e-mailed Microsoft on this point and am awaiting their response and
have suggested that whilst they have launched IE 7.0 they have not provided
any support for the product that I can find.

Here is the info out of IE7's Help file, just in case you missed
something.

Change your privacy settings
Cookies are files that are stored on your computer by some websites.
They're usually used to keep track of information about you (for
example, your user name, password, or the contents of your shopping
cart). Internet Explorer privacy settings let you specify which
cookies you want to allow to be stored on your computer.

To change your privacy settings

In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet
Options.
Click the Privacy tab, and then move the slider to the level of
privacy you prefer.
Select this To specify this

Cookies that are already on your computer cannot be read by websites.

High Cookies from all websites that do not have a compact policy (a
condensed, computer-readable privacy statement) will be blocked.
Cookies from all websites that use information that can be used to
contact you without your explicit consent will be blocked.

Medium High Cookies from third-party websites that do not have a
compact policy (a condensed, computer-readable privacy statement) will
be blocked.

used to contact you without your implicit consent will be blocked.

Low Cookies from third-party websites that do not have a compact
policy (a condensed, computer-readable privacy statement) will be
blocked.
Cookies from third-party websites that use information that can be
used to contact you without your implicit consent will be deleted from
your computer when you close Internet Explorer.

Accept All Cookies All websites will be allowed to save cookies on
your computer.
Cookies that are already on your computer can be read by the websites
that created them.

Notes

A first-party website is the website that you are currently viewing. A
third-party website is a website other than the one you are currently
viewing. Third-party websites usually provide some content on the
website you are currently viewing. For example, many sites use
advertising from third-party websites and those third-party websites
might use cookies.
Some websites require cookies. If you select a privacy setting that
does not allow cookies to be saved on your computer, you might not be
able to view certain websites.
When you change your privacy settings, the changes might not affect
cookies that are already on your computer. To help ensure that all of
the cookies on your computer meet your privacy settings, you should
delete all of the existing cookies on your computer. When you return
to websites that previously had saved cookies on your computer, the
websites that meet your privacy settings will save cookies on your
computer again. The websites that do not meet your privacy settings
will not be allowed to save cookies on your computer. For information
about how to delete cookies, click Related Topics.
You can specify custom privacy settings for websites. For more
information, click Related Topics.

Thank you for your advice, but I have already tried your suggesions.
To prove the point I set the provacy control to 'Accept all cookies' but my
computer is still not accepting cookies.
This problem only started after I had installed Internet Explorer 7.0

Adding to John good advice try this:

1= Check your Security settings;
.... Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced.

Click on Privacy Tab then click on Sites Button and be sure the sites you
want to access not been blocked there. Then click on Pop-Up Blocker and make
sure the settings set to Medium.

.....Click on Advanced Tab , scroll down to this Option:
Java (sun)
[ ] Use JRE 1.5.0_06 for <applet> (req Rest) check this box

Under security;
[&] Secuirty
[ ] Use SSL 2.0 check this box
[ ] Use SSL 3.0 // // //
[ ] Use TLS 1.0 // // //
Click Ok and Reboot your machine and try these sites.

2= If still no joy then do the following:

On the IE Properties again;
Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced.

Click on Advanced Tab and Under:
Reset Internet Explorer settings:
Deletes all temp.......etc... [ Reset....] click on this button.
Reboot and try.

3= Try to assign these sites into the trusted zone and raise the security
to Medium settings.
Also look in the Blocked/Allowed cookies they may be blocked so remove the
blocked cookies and you will have access.
Look in the Hosts file for any entries for them and remove it. If you have
Anti-Virus with Firewall they can Block Banners,Adds, Scripting images or
Animated images or Pop-up images so configure the firewall to allow this
feature you want to access without compromising your security.
Don't forget IE7 have a Pop-Up blocker so set that to low or medium to allow
these sites.
Again please in the future post to the relevant NewsGroup to get the most
useful answers.
Here is the IE7 Newsgroup:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...613-dfee-4b99-9378-839a15bef262&lang=en&cr=US
Note perform one step (1,2,3) at a time and reboot your machine.
Good Luck.
