constant "hanging up" various applications showing "hungapp"

win xp sp2 (latest updates installed; Spyware Doctor, Mcafee, Windows
Defender, Avast, AdAware SE . Everything is updated.


McAfee firewall in particular but NOT exclusively: When I open window and
try to
click on anything, I get a "not responding" and it hangs for the longest
time. This happens with several other programs as well. Whenever "error send
report etc" comes up it shows "hungapp" as my problem. I have googled the
heck out of google for "hungapp" where there are many entries but I can't
find a solution. It appears that this same question has been asked for
several years in forums (with a variety of szAppNames) without a definitive
answer that I can find. Have uninstalled and reinstalled McAfee firewall to
no avail.

This is what I'm getting:

i know that windows defender scans in the background, eventhough there may
not be a task bar icon letting you know it is active. take a closer look
into defender as a possible cause for your problem......... also, if mcafee
and spyware doctor are also active, then having multiple defenses running at
the same time may also attribute to your headache.....
