Connecting 2 computer using Hub with a ADSL Modem

I run network wizard and set up as per instructions. Neither computer will
connect to the internet. The icon goes to the system tray, but shows no
activity. I have ADSL hooked to Hub correctly. From hub to computer 1. From
hub to computer 2. If I hook up straight to the ADSL modem that computer runs
like hell. HELP!!!!!

If you are connecting 2 computers through one adsl
connection, you should be using a router, NOT a hub. If
you are using a hub, then I would guess that both
computers are competing for the same IP address from your
ISP. You should use a router which picks up the IP
address from the ISP then use DHCP on the router to
provide addresses to the PC's. You could also configure
the PC's with static addresses. Either way, the PC's
should be using private addresses and point to the router
as the default gateway. Most routers will set this up
automatically for you.

If this is a real hub, you shouldn't run network wizard but install xDSL
software or RASPPPoE drivers on each computer instead and you'd get the Net
access only. If you want both home network and the Net, you need a SOHO
router.

(These pages were written by me a while ago. Ignore the prices in the links
bellow. The same or similar hardware can be found for 60%-90% less.)

Cable/DSL Router - Some of them are "Dirt" cheap (Example: Wireless 4 Port
Cable/DSL Gateway Router $9.99 after rebate -

)

Routers provide more stability better protection.

The whole thing should look like this:
