Connect to Remote Computer using PCAnywhere 10.5.1 result in Black Screen

I was able to connect to a remotely computer successfully using
PCAnywhere 10.5.1 last week.

Yesterday and today, I used the exact same method to connect to the
same computer by double-clicking on the Remote icon for the same
computer. As usual, I first got the "connecting to whatever IP
address I was trying to connect to" screen. After that, all I got was
a black screen. I tried to connect many many times with no luck.

I'm not sure what the problem is. No hardware changes have been done
on either the host or remote computer. The host computer may had
installed some automatic windows updates.

Any help is appreicated.
Thanks

Weird thing is that I just had the same exact problem, except I'm using the
built-in XP remote desktop program. Just all of a sudden, today all I can
see is a black screen. What the heck??

I have similar problem when using Remote Desktop, so the cause might be
completely different...
Anyway, what happened in the case of RDP was that the host computer (XP Pro)
has set up warning message in its Local Security Settings -> Interactive
logon: Message text/title for users attempting to log on. After this has
been enabled, I could remote log in once, but the the next time I just got a
blank screen on the remote client, as the Security warning was actually
displaying on the host's computer screen instead of on the remote client's
screen. As long as someone press "enter" on the host computer to get rid of
the prompt, I could remote log in again once... no idea how to fix this in
the case of RDP and am not sure it is the reason for your PCAnywhere
problem...
