Hi,

I'am expiriencing problems with remote desktop connection between two
comouters with modem. I'am using PcAnywhere 8 on both of comuputers
with Windows 98 OS. Modems are U.S. Robotics Fax Modems 56k.

I've checked Device Manager and modem is installed propertly so I don't
know the solution for my problem.

My problem is that when I connect host and client computer, I can't
establish remote connection propertly. I turned off encryption, but
nevertheless I still get unusable characters or smth strange.

Could someone write me how to establish RDC with modems which will work
propertly?!

thanks

Welcome to the microsoft.public.windowsxp.work_remotely newsgroup!!

PCAnyWhere is a third party product. For support - you go to the
manufacturer.

You might try something a little less "heavy" to be used on your Windows 98
systems - perhaps UltraVNC? It's definitely less expensive (free) and gives
you just about everything you would need between two Windows 98 machines.

It is possible to download the client program from Microsoft for Win 98, Me,
2000, and XP Home,
and use them to connect with an XP system via Remote Desktop. You don't need
PCAnywhere.

That's true - but has little to do with the entirity of this thread.

From the original post that started the thread (above as well):
"I am using PcAnywhere 8 on both of computers with Windows 98 OS"

So both computers in question seemingly have Windows 98 on them and PC
Anywhere is being used to connect between the two computers... ;-)
