Don't know why I go on to these forums, when they confuse me even more but.....

I'm defecting from ripoff macs to PC and after a PC with a budget of £700 (750 tops.)

I'm a graphic designer so looking for a computer that can handle having several of the following applications open at the same time:
- Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver.

I will also be using After Effects, so one of my main concerns is that the PC I buy will perform Fan-dabbie-dosie with DV/Animation editing programs such as After Effects. (i.e rendering and stuff)

- I also require at least a 19" monitor.
- 2GB Ram
- I need a graphics card for graphic design rather than for gaming.

Been looking at PCspecialist (but stupidly read bad reviews on some of the motherboards they put in), Novatech, and Avia.

Really don't want to spend this amount of money and a few months down the line it start to chug chug. Would like to move freely between programs.

Please help me... at this rate I might just go and buy a typewriter off the woman out of murder she wrote and a ruler and pencil.

Thanks for your time.

You might get some good ideas here . Its worth thinking about building your own . If you can wire a plug you have the manual skills and looking at the software you use you'd have no problems with the setting up of a new build . Everyone here is very helpful to newbie DIY'ers .

CCL are good for components - always had great service from them. As graphic designers we have been through a few companys when it comes to actually getting bespoke PCs.. lots offer online 'custom pc' configurators but when you look into whats actually inside them, forget it. The only company we know willing to build bespoke PCs is NSYS, but drop them a line first instead of using their online system; bit old fashioned but it works a treat.
