configuring an old game to XP

Hi, My operating system is XP, but I have an old CD-rom
game that is Windows 95? I can't remember how to make the
computer think it is operating on Windows 95 so I can play
this game. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Right click on the exe file and select properties, there you will see a
compatibility tab.

Norm, I am sorry, now I sound like a complete idiot. By
the exe file do you mean I should right click on the game
icon in My Computer? Because if you do, I tried that and
there is no compatibility tab, which is really annoying.
Do you have any suggestions where I should go from here?

Mim, see what the exe file is that the shortcut points to, that's what you
need to change the properties on.

Start - All Programs - Accessories - Program Compatibility Wizard.

Browse to the .exe of the game, Next and select Windows 95

You will be given an opportunity to say 'always run this way'

If it works well and good - but there are some old games that are badly
behaved and which XP will just not allow to do the things they want to
