Computer won't load Windows.....

When I startup my computer, it initally tries to load up Windows, doesn't
complete and I get the blue screen that reads....."registry cannot load
file.......(names file), it's log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent or not
writable. Physical memory dump complete. Contact your system admin. or
tech. support group for further assistance."

I tried to use my "Restore" CD, but it doesn't even recognize it and I
cannot get the "start up" to run it manually since I can't get past the blue
screen at all.
I shut the computer down last night with no problems. Any suggestions at all?
I can't even use the Windows support site since I can't get to the product
ID they require that is stored IN THE COMPUTER FILES. I appreciate any help
anyone can give with the problem. I use a Dell laptop and they are just the
WORST for support.

Thanks,

Hi

Restart your PC and keep tapping the F8 key to see if you can access a
screen that has 'Last Known Good Configuration' as an option. Try that to
see if you can access Windows.

Hey Will....

Thanks for the reply.......I tried that already......I did get a screen with
a few options and tried them all. One was to reconfigure to last known
configuration and it wouldn't follow through. I still got the blue screen
with the same message. Any other ideas?
