Computer reboots after installing XP SP1

Just installed SP1 and now my laptop continually reboots. I can't even get
into safe mode. Is there a way to remove the last update at a command
prompt? Thank you.

I'm having the same problem with a friend's laptop. She is not exactly "computer savvy". Her computer had tons of spyware on it, so much that it was dog slow. I removed the spyware with SpyBot and it was working pretty good. Then I ran Windows Update and found that it needed over 50 updates. I ran the SP1 update first, which is what Windows Update recommended. The update went fine and it finished the install and said to reboot. Now the system continually reboots between the initial Windows XP logo page and when the mouse pointer usually appears. Help!
