I have recently tried to install SP2 on my pc. I am currently running xp SP1
home edition. After installing SP2 and reboot I get this error{A problem is
preventing windows from accurately checking the license for this computer.
Error code: 0X80004005.} Had to reboot in safe mode and use system resore to
remove SP2. Not shure what to do from here

Do I understand that this error came from not turning off the virus checker?

You might want to reply to the OP, I just posted a link to MS's site
based on his error message.

So from what I understand from the previous posts and from the link provided
I need to boot from windows xp cd and recover i386 files that are missing? Or
it is caused by not shutting down antivirus software? If it is the first of
the two solutions I do not have xp cd as it was preinstalled on my pc and I
have lost my restore cd.Good news is that I have located where I can get the
restore cd replaced.

Question: Is there any other way to recover lost i386 files?
