I have 3 accounts set up on my home computer. I cannot access the control
panel from my screen without the computer freezing up but I can connect to
the internet. The other 2 accounts cannot access the internet at all. When
they try the computer freezes up.

Sounds like your system is infected with a virus, spyware or trojan. Check
in: Start\Run\type "msconfig" enter and go to the Startup tab, and uncheck
suspicious applications if any are present. Next Start\Run\regedit\ browse
to the Run keys and delete suspicious values if any.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Next scan the system with the antivirus and antispyware programs.

Download Adaware SE Personal, Spybot Search & Destroy, CWShredder, and The
Cleaner.

I have 3 questions: what is NVIDA Corp. and is it safe to leave in the
configuration? Also in your response you said delete suspocious
values...what are considered suspicious?? Sorry somewhat illiterate! What
is the meaning of the "HKEY" strands that followed?

Nvidia is the maker of the Video Card. You may be running an application for
the video card, which you should leave alone.

Suspicious programs are those that are not XP or Office applications, or are
applications that you did not install.

Suspicious values in "Run" registry keys are in the same category as
suspicious programs and usually are malware. (spyware, trojans, virus,
etc.).. some may be present in both "msconfig" and the "Run" keys. And all
applications in msconfig or values in the Run keys are applications that
startup automatically. That includes the antivirus, the Office shortcut bar,
Messenger, ctfmon, and any startup applications that you may set to start
automatically. Those processes in msconfig and values in the Run keys that
are not Windows applications, antivirus applications, or installed by owner
applications, should be considered suspicious, and unchecking them in
msconfig or deleting them from the registry disables the automatic start
function but you have to remove them with a spyware or virus scanner.

Apps running in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive are applications enabled for all
user accounts.

Apps running in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive are applications enabled for the
present user account only.
