Comodo firewall and AVG cont centre disappeared.

I recently experience a worrying problem when I booted my pcthe icons for
Comodo firewall and AVG control centre were not present and the

Red warnig shiel warning me my firewall was not running appeared. AVG mail
scanner was running however.
The day previously I had downloaded and run the Stinger scanner as described
in this months PCA which found no problems.
I have now got both the AVG control centre and Comodo firewall activating at
boot-up by adding avgcc.exe and cpf.exe to :-

HKEP_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Is this the correct solution, if yes how do I make them start minimized???

Try posting to "windows.public.windowsxp.security_admin" for your problem
with Comodo firewall. The red shield warning from Security Center may not be
a "real" security concern but only an error. I have encountered this with
Earthlink Protection Control Center software as well. Are you using a
hardware router or firewall or just a standalone connection such as dial-up
? If you are so worried about it during configuration of Comodo Firewall,
just leave Windows XP firewall "on" for now until you decide how to address
this problem. That way you will not get any alarming pop-up balloons or red
shields. However if Comodo firewall is incompatible with AVG anti-virus I
would just uninstall it and use Windows XP firewall. That is exactly what I
have been doing for a while (over a year), AVG Free plus Windows Firewall.
Yes, I also have AVG Anti-spyware scanner installed (and SpywareBlaster).
