New system - E6750 Conroe with EVGA 8600 video board driving a Samsung 226BW
LCD monitor. Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L/S3L motherboard.

I get green (mostly) and sometimes red PARTS of characters (always vertical
parts, such as "l" and "i" in columns on the page. Was told by EVGA it was a
"memory chip" problem. Returned 8600 for replacement - still have problem.
Tried different monitor - still a problem.

Anybody ever see this, or have any suggestions ?

Does it do this when you turn off ClearType?

Hi Dave,

Does it do it in Safe Mode too? If not, try updating your display driver.

This is Cleartype doing "sub pixel hinting" with crappy nVidia drivers. I've
had this problem with several different versions of the nVidia drivers. It's
quite annoying.

What really ticks me off is that there is no way to disable the sub pixel
hinting without disabling Cleartype completely. My LCD rotates, so in
portrait mode there should be no sub pixel hinting.

How do you disable "Clear Type". Looked several places in Help, but could
not find reference.

Thanks for the reply.

Never mind - found it and turned it off. Still have problem.

Thanks for the effort.

If you are saying that the problem is still there by just looking at IE7,
check elsewhere as well, as I think the setting for ClearType in IE7 is
separate, in its Advanced Properties.

Try a different screen resolution.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. After much researching, I have come to the
conclusion that PART of the problem is with the viewing angle of the TN-LCD
display. Problem is more pronounced at top of screen, and changing viewing
angle can change color back to black. Still no good solution, except for
maybe getting a better monitor.
