code 39 plug and play enumerator with yellow exclamation

I have no sound on my sound card at the moment because of a fault with
the plug and play enumerator with a yellow exclamation mark beside it.
When I trouble shoot, it says there is a code 39 error. So I
uninstalled the drivers in the hope XP might reinstall the driver,
only for it to no longer exist now.

What can I do to resolve the problem?

That has noting to do with the OP's problem

Check the bios and confirm that it's set to assign resources automatically.

then reinstall the drivers

If there is still a conflict...

try putting the card in a different PCI slot...

if the machine has AGP video do not use the PCI slot closest to AGP...

some motherboards have problems with that configuration

Yes it does have everything to do with that error. This is not the first time this
same issue has cropped up. The Upper and Lower filters are the cause of this issue

that did not cover the issue of sound card
