Nvidia card with Yellow Exclamation mark

Dell Dimension
Upgrade to XP PRO
Nvidia GForce 2 mx

I let XP install drivers for this card.

Upon reboot I find the card is not working properly: yellow Exclamation mark
in device manager

I delete the display card. I run the new hardware wizard. The card is found.
The computer reboots. And all is well.

I adjust the screen resolution and refresh rate.

I reboot: the resolution is correct. The refresh rate is at default. The
card has a yellow Exclamation mark in device manager.

I downloaded the newest drivers from Nvidia. Go through the installation.
All is well.

Reboot the computer and The card has a yellow Exclamation mark in device
manager.

Everything else is working fine.

Try downloading the latest driver, directly from Nvidia's web site.

Hi there,
I would suggest that, rather than use the Windows drivers
you use the ones supplied by the manufaturer. Delete the
card again from device manager and ok it. Restart.
Windows will detect the card on boot up and you can use
the driver CD that came with the card.
hope it helps

You may want to check what AGP drivers you are using and make sure you are
using the latest for your Mobo's chipset.

I had a similar problem to this. I tried everything of the following:

1) Install latest drivers -- not corrected!

2) Find a utility to remove all traces of nVidia drivers --- did not work
for me!

3) Manually remove all traces of nVidia drivers -- still did work

I was finally left to do a "repair re-install" of my XP Pro. I then was
able to get my nVidia card to be installed correctly. NOTE: You will have
to re-do all the Windows Updates/Service Pack installs.

Y.
