code 10

My audio device cannot start and with a code 10 status; I never had this
problem
before. I'm using Crystal WDM audio codec and it has an exclaimation mark
next to it in the Device Manager. I have noticed that before and also on the
Crystal WDM audio control registers but I was still able to get the sound
until yesterday.

Is this a codec/registry problem or it's time I get another sound card? BTW,
I
took out the card, dusted it and replaced with no avail.

Whenever I clicked on Update Driver I ended up getting Help and Support and
the search there for that audio codec had not been fruitful. I have tried to
google for an update or download but there was no joy either. The version I
have is 5.1.2535.0. I have not been able to get it from the Crystal site or
in a couple of driver sites.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Error Code 10

Code 10 Error means the operating system had a problem allocating resources
for the Serial Device. The Error Code 10 can be corrected by manually
assigning the resources. Follow the procedures below to correct the Code 10
Error.

1. Right click on "My Computer" (It should be on your desktop or in the
Start menu)

2. Select Properties

3. Click Hardware

4. Click Device Manager. The Socket Serial Card should show in the "Ports
(COM & LPT)" category. *If it has a "+" next to it, click it once so it
becomes a "-" and the card should show right below it

5. Double-click on the description; this will open the cards properties

6. Click on "Resources"

7. Click "Set configuration manually". This should assign an I/O range. Make
sure there are no conflicts reported in the "Conflicting device list". Your
IRQ should show with a "?" over it

8. Double-click on "IRQ". This will come up with a value for you. Make sure
it does not show a conflict and then click OK

9. Click OK to set these settings and YES to continue with changes. This
should clear your code 10 error

*If the software you are going to be using with the serial card has specific
resource requirements, please contact us and we will provide you with the
required settings. You will know if this is the case if it does not work
after you have set the resources manually.

Hi Byte

Thanks for the response.I have done the following.

Under Resoursces, I have Use Automatic Setting which I have unchecked, does
this mean I have "Set configuration manually"?

For my COM1 my I/O range is 03F8-03FF & IRQ is 04 and 02F8-02FF for COM2
with IRQ03,and both indicate No conflicts.
8. Double-click on "IRQ". This will come up with a value for you. Make
sure
it does not show a conflict and then click OK

When I do that I get error 'You cannot modify the resources in this config.
Try choosing a different config. in the 'Setting Based On' box. My box
indicates Current configuration (as it is now) and Basic configuration 0000
to 0004. I have played about different configs given in the box but nothing
seemed to work.
*If the software you are going to be using with the serial card has
specific
resource requirements, please contact us and we will provide you with the
required settings. You will know if this is the case if it does not work
after you have set the resources manually.

The response I sent was from my search library. I am not familiar
with Crystal WDM, so that puts me at a dead end. You can try a
Google search or Crystal website for additional help/information. Sorry :~(
