Clean Install Questions

Wayne A Lewis

I am familiar with 2k, but am new to installing XP.

I want to do a clean install of XP Pro on a blank drive. I understand that
it will allow me to set up a partition for XP, but will it allow me to set
up other NTFS partitions at the same time -- or can I use the disk manager
later to do it? What I am trying to avoid is using FDISK to create the
partitions and then convert, and I don't have PartitionMagic.

Also in 2k you can have separate partitions for system and boot. Is it the
same for XP, and if so, do you have any advice on it?

Thanks

The XP installation is identical to the 2000 install.

Use disk manager to create additional partitions. You can have up to four
primary partitions.

Set the size you want for the XP partition and leave the rest unallocated.
Use Disk Management after XP is installed to create new partitions.
Boot from the CD and do a clean install.
