Can you create a chapter heading without having the A. Chapter 1 at the to? I
just want the words of the chapter to show.

No heading has to be numbered. You should be able to apply a heading style
without applying numbering.

If the built-in headings are attached to a numbering scheme, do this to get
rid of the numbering: Display the Styles pane (called the Styles and
Formatting pane in Word 2002-2003). For each heading style, right-click it
and choose Modify from the context menu. In the Modify Style dialog box,
click Format, and then click Numbering. Choose the "None" option. Click OK
repeatedly to close all the dialog boxes.
