Changing User Name

Is there a way to change the Primary User Name on an XP computer? I am
giving my computer to my wife and want to change the User Name to her name.
I know I can just had her name as a user and have her log on that way but I
was wondering if I could just change the Primary User Name.

If it is not possible to do the above and I actually have to add her name as
a user, how do I get the programs on my Desktop to show up on her Desktop
when she logs on? Thanks for the help. Mike950

You can change it easily in the same place where you would add users.
However - the actual directory and much of the reference to the account will
still show the old name.

However - you could just create a default user profile out of your profile
(I'd cleanup some first) and then when you create her account and she logs
in the first time - her new account will look like yours.

You could also just create her profile and copy the stuff to it...

Thank you Shenan. That is exactly what I needed to know. I think I'll try
the last option at www.petri.co. That sounds like it would work best for
what I want to do.

Panic

Start... Run.... type in regedit..click OK. Best to make a backup of your
Registry first. Then click on Edit... Find. enter your name (as primary
user) as the item to find. change that to her name. Hit F3 to find the
next entry of your name.. change that to her name. etc.
