Changing menu language in WinXP Home

Guest

Hello! I just bought a new laptop with the english-us WinXP Home edition,
andhave been trying to change the default language to portuguese. MUI seems
to be the only option where i could have a multi-language OS, but its NOT
compatible w/ the home edition... so i was wondering if there is a language
patch or somethign that would allow me to change the OS to portuguese or if
there are any other suggestions ... i am drawing to the conclusion i'll have
to buy the the WinXP home in portuguese.. but would love a $ saving
solution...
Thanks
Phillipe

Windows XP is written in specific language versions, therefore one
cannot change it from one language version to another. You'll need
to purchase a "Full Version" of Windows XP in the language version
you desire, reformat your drive and install it "clean".

Or if you have an available empty drive or partition, you can install
another "Full Version" of Windows XP in a different language version
and create a dual-boot configuration.

A good third-party partitioning program is Partition Magic 8.

Hi,

You are drawing the correct conclusion. There is no easy way to change the
base install language.

You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the OS
to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of
WinXP (in whatever language you want) to perform a clean installation.
