changing default spacing

J

Joanna

I'm a teacher and am trying to set up double spacing as my
default option for all word documents. I've already
changed the font size, which has a button that allows you
to simply change your default setting. There isn't a
button to do so for the spacing, though. I know that it
can be done... I backed into it a couple of years ago,
but can't figure it out again. Any help would be
appreciated.

Change the line spacing of Normal style and check the box for "Add to
template." But I really wouldn't advise this because changes of this sort
can have unexpected effects in envelopes, labels, and other documents.
Instead I would advise that you create a custom template for double-spaced
documents. See
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customization/CustomizeNormalTemplate.htm and
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customization/CreateATemplatePart1.htm
