Changes to 97 db will not appear in XP

We have a database which needs to remain in it's original
97 format for our client. Our users have been
successfully entering data to this db using Access 2002
(XP).

This morning, I opened it exclusively in 97, made some
design changes (added new field to
table/query/form/report), then compiled and compacted
it. On my NT machines running Access 97, I see the
changes. On my XP machines running Access 2002, the
changes are still not displayed after many hours have
elapsed.

Any ideas?

Are the tables linked into one of the XP machines Access
XP's? if so, you simply need to go into Tools>Database
Utilities>Linked Table Manager, check the table you
changed the design of, click Ok, Ok, Close.

If the tables are not linked, ensure that the 97 client is
using the same .mdb file (stored at the exact same network
location) as the XP client.

It can only be 1 of the 2 scenario's above, IMHO.

I agree that it should only be one of those two
scenarios, and yet it isn't. No linked tables, and 97/XP
are using exact same mdb. Very odd.

FYI - this fixes it (although the cause is still a
mystery). I created a new database and imported each
table, query, form, report & macro from the misbheaving
database (excluding all of the hidden system objects such
as MSysObjects.) I think one of the system objects may
have become corrupt.
