Access 97 blocks MS SQL Server 7 process

A recent release of our Access 97 implementation of a
Laboratory Information system has sporadic problems
causing MS SQL Server blocks. One particular Access form
seems to be the culprit. This form has been in use over
two years with no obvious changes that would suggest the
blocking we now see. The other change is a switch from
Win NT to XP on the client machines. We plan to upgrade
from Access 97 to 2003 - but does anyone have similar
experience with an older Access application that
has "developed" a problem with blocks?

Are you running a split access file?

That means that EACH USER gets a front end (and that is usually a mde).

While it is possible that your system worked with more then one user in the
front end, you likely just been lucky.

You don't, and should NOT just share the front end access mde
(mde..right..not a mdb?) on the server. You must deploy the mde front end to
each work station.

I suppose some timestamp issue may have come up (any sub-forms involved?).
Are timestamp fields exposed to the ms-access forms?
