Change in startup

On startup my wireless network was not recognized. I rebooted with the CD in
(SBC Yahoo DSL). When it rebooted, Windows asked for a User Name and
password. I have not used a password for Windows since I got the computer.
Never had problems before. Now whenever I try to reboot (restart or cold
start), I get the User name/Password screen.

I am using XP Professional SP3, on a Dell Deminsion 8250.

I can get to setup in the Dell startup, but once it gets to loading Windows,
nothing seems to stop it until the User name screen.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Mark,

Thanks, but...

When restarted I still get the User Name/Pasword screen.

F8, Safe Mode
F8, Safe Mode with command prompt
F8, Last known good config

all lead to the User Name/Password screen.

Any thing else?

sometimes simply
pressing the enter
key when that dialog
pops up asking for
id and password can
get you in.

then afterwards one
can insure that the
autologin feature is
enabled to avoid the
inconvenience:

-------------------------

unfortunately, the problem
is that your issue poses
the question of whether
or not you are the
owner of that system.

otherwise, any kind of
easy fix avail would simply
provide anyone with the
ability to gain access
to pc's, including stolen
ones.

what you might try
to use the windows
xp setup disk for that
system and perform
a repair installation.
