Change HD, Reactivate

After replacing a SATA HD (non raid config) with a new one, and changing the
Vol ID back to the original, reactivation was required. I didn't expect
that, and it took a half hour to get it reactivated because I got cut off
after all that automatic stuff, and had to start all over. Activation
shouldn't have been required, with just a HD change, should it? TIA

You made a major change to your system, hence re-activation kicked in.

Don't know. The hierarchy in hardware regarding points for additive to
require activation isn't in front of me. Am sure it has some weight. By
itself, no other changes, no.
