Need to reactivate RAID disks after reboot

The past two years, I've been running XP SP2 on a PC with an IDE boot disk
and a two SATA disks that serve as striped RAID. In the last few months,
however, after a reboot, the RAID array is not automatically mounted. I
always have to go into Disk Management and reactivate the RAID disks.

Any ideas on what's going on? Is there a setting or service I need to be
setting to Automatic?

Thanks in advance for any help!

If I were you I would start getting scared about my data (with no other
info to go on).

If the stripe fails, you probably have junk; it's not like a mirror
(which you may already know)

Perhaps your raid controller's non-volatile ram is getting weak? - just
a guess.

The RAID array is not my XP Pro boot disk. The data on it is fairly static
with good backups, and I also keep my page file on the RAID array for its
speed.

The need to reactivate the disks after reboot is just annoying. Again, I'm
guessing it's some service that should be starting automatically, but isn't.

Now how would I find out if my on-board RAID controller RAM is weak?

I got the impression that it was "losing" the configuration settings.
After re-reading your original post, that may not be the case after all.

I do not believe it would be the case of a service alone; however, you
might check to see if there is a driver (and possibly an associated
service) that might need updating. I'd check the motherboard
manufacturer's website for possible driver updates.
