CDRW & DVD drive not working

Hello,

I am unable to get my CDRW and DVD drives to work. They worked before I
reset my bios. Now when booting I get the error : Sec Master ATAPI
Incompatible and Sec Slave ATAPI Incompatible Press F1 to continue.

After booting into Windows XP, I can see both drives in My Computer, both
appear as CDROM's and niether will read a cd, It takes a long time to read
the disk, then I get an error: Disk is not accessable, The disk structure is
corrupted and unreadable.

I am going out to get another IDE cable, to see if that is the problem. I
have tried switching the drives from Masters to Slaves and even Cable Select
(although I don't think the IDE cable will work with CS). In the BIOS I have
tried Auto, ARMD, and Not Installed, and pressing Enter to Auto detect
(showed up as ARMD).
I have also tried disconnecting one and booting with just the other drive.
Neither works by itself either.

Please help!

Thanks muchly.

BTW, I can see both correctly in Device Manager, checked the drivers as well
and both seem up to date.

Why mess with hardware and potentially opening up yet another can of
worms when the thing you did was software/firmware related?

Plato you are absolutley right, I am just out of options. I have tried to
upgrade the firmware, but it does not take. Could it be due to Nero? I
removed it, but it still doesn't seem to matter.
