Ok this last week my cd-rw/ dvd drive has stopped playing DVDs. This problem has just occured recently as it was previously operating fine. I havent installed any new hardware or updates. Its nothing to do with region coding as i have checked up on this

I have tried re-installing intel win dvd4 but this did not reslove problem

It plays Cds, audio cds but not Dvds. I have tried playing movie dvds, and a dvd containg only wav. samples but the drive does not work

i can hear the drive making noises as it tries to pick up the dvd but after a minute it stops

When i try to open the dvd from my computer It gives the error message

DISK IS NOT FORMATTED
Windows cannot read from the disk. The disk might be corrupted or it could be using a file format that is not compatible with windows

Can anyone help me as i have tried all i can to resolve the problem. Please reply to thread or email me at (e-mail address removed)

Hi,

Go to the store and pick up a commercial CD/DVD lens cleaner disk. It's
probably just dirt/dust, and these impede the ability of the drive to read
the disks.
