cd rom not working

cd-rom shows as working & tried reloading driver, but it won't play any
cd's-just dead ??

first step, clean it!!!
Do you have a CD cleaner? You know, that CD with the bristles on it...

Have you went to control panel then system then hardware thendevice manager
and then DVD/cd-rom and click on it and removed it. If not do so and then
restart and let windows find the drive again

In addition:

Save the file below to your hard drive. Navigate to where you saved it and
double click the file. A confirmation dialog will appear when the script is
done. You may need to reboot for the change to take effect.
