hi there,

i am currently having problems loading a CD through my CD Rom, i have tried
several CD's in it, everytime i try and load up a CD it just appears blank in
the windows explorer field, it's like the CD Rom drive can't read it, but it
has been working fine recently, can someone help?

Thanks

Some softeware creates CD that can only be read by that software. Some
software provide an option to make the CD readable by all CD-ROMs.

Where did the CD's come from?

Try cleaning the CD-ROM.
If you changed the XP lately, make sure your Secondary IDE channel is set to
what your CD-ROM jumper is set to. UDMA or PIO. Some older CD-ROM's have no
jumper and must run in PIO.

The power management can affect the CD-ROM.

And sometimes it takes a min to read all the files to display. Did you check
the activity while the screen was blank?

That's all I know. :)
