FRED

MY NAME IS FRED,

I HAVE A XP HOME EDITION. AFTER A FEW WEEKS AGO MY CD ROM/DVD WAS WORKING
PROPERLY, NOW I CAN NOT ACEES IT, THE DRIVE IS NOT SHOWING UP ON MY COMPUTER
OR DEVICE MANAGER.
I TRIED DELETING THE UPPER AND LOWER FILTERS ON THE REGISTRY, BUT STILL NOT
WORKING.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

"deleting the upper and lower filters on the registry".....WHY?

Get someone who knows what they are doing and try a system restore
to hopefully undo any registry lunacy you may have caused, once set
back to a point prior to your silliness.
Get the person who knows, to disconnect frpm power supply and
ground themselves. Open the case and check the IDE connections
and settings etc.
A replacement drive is cheap and easily installed - by someone who
knows what they are doing.

Couldnt agree more, hopefully can use system restore to roll back and then
worry about the CD drive

In the meantime have you checked it in another machine to see if its the
drive thats at fault?
