CD-ROM/DVD-ROM Problem

Hi!

For some reason my PC has decided that it no longer has a cd-rom or
dvd-writer even though up until a week ago, I have been able to fully use
both of them.

When I click on My Computer, they are not listed at all and when I put a CD
in one of them, no auto-run program starts up either, its like they're not
there at all even though they are!

Im not sure why or how this has happened as I havent done anything for this
to arise.

When looking in the device manager, the two units are listed there but
theres a yellow exclamation marks on both of them. Clicking on 'Properties'
takes you to the general inof about the device with this written in the
Device Details:

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot
find the hardware device. (Code 41)

I have opened the case to make sure everything is plugged in properly and it
all seems to be?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mark

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
[Start > Run and type: REGEDIT , and hit enter]

2. Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

4. Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

6. Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value,
if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need
to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

7. Restart your computer.

Thanks!

Im not too sure what I should be deleting though, the entire folder or just
the program thats called Upperfilters (what about Upperfilters.bak?)

Same goes for lower filters obviously.

Thanks again for your help.
