cd rom drive problems

Hello all.

I'm frustrated with this computer. I have Windows2000 and
have recently encountered a problem with both my cd-rom
drives. One is a rewrite and the other is not. I can play
a music cd on either drive, but if I put a disk in and try
to access the info through MY computer E:/, I get a
message that says E:/ not available, incorrect function.
this also comes up when I tryed to access A:/ floppy
drive... anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Bob

Hi everybody,

I too have this problem after installing Norton Internet
Security 2004. The recommendation in their site could not
fix the problem.

Does everyone has the problem fixed?

After viewing the message boards it seems many people are
having problems with windows 2000 upgrades and its ability
to read information from the CD drives. After testing the
cd's on other systems it appears that windows 2000 sp4 is
unable to recognize CDFS formatting when it is installed
on older slower processors. It seems to have no trouble
reading UDF formatted cd's. I don't know what this means
but why not try it and see if yours will read a UDF
formatted cd. If it does let's see if Microsoft is aware
of the problem so they can do a hotfix.

Looking for your response.
