Playing flash messed up CD-ROM and CD-R?

My CD-ROM and CD-R drives were working properly, then I
viewed some macromedia flash movies, now my CD-ROM won't
play music CD's and my CD-R doesn't recognize when a CD
has been inserted. The CD-ROM drive does display the title
of the CD - it just won't play it. CD-R drive doesn't even
recognize that a disk has beeb inserted. It just gives the
message: 'Please insert a disk into drive E'.

Some movie posts to binary groups have had viruses attached. Maybe the movie
you viewed was similarly, er, enhanced. So try a virus scan and clean.

Or, try a boot to safe mode (press F8 at the appropriate time,) and do a
Repair. That often fixes this problem, but there's no guarantee it will,
unfortunately. So Good Luck!
