un-recognizable CD

I have a CyberDrv CW038D CD-R/RW and a Samsung CD-ROM
SCR3231. They both play music. The CD-R/RW will recognize
and I can explore CW RW, but neither will access or
recognize a data CD. Windows Explorer states "G:\is not
accessable Incorrect Function"

I have uninstalled drivers, and reinstalled drivers with
no change. I am trying to load a new program and can't get
it to read the disk. Any suggestions?

It's been running OK for the last 2 years. Now it does
not read data or install software cd's. RW's are fine, as
well as music

Physically disconnect one drive and reinstall drivers. Then try the
same on the other drive.

Or get completely away from Windows 2000 by putting a DOS boot disk
in and see if the CD drivers take and if you can read a CD directory.
Even a Win98 boot disk will prove out the drives.

It happen when Master and Slave slots mismatch the jumper settings.
But I have not changed jumpers and its been working.
Tries disconecting rebooting, closing, and rebooting
again. Devices recognized but same problem

Well In booted up in safe mode and the drives worked
perfectly. They just won't work in Win 2000 full
version. Go figure
