CD headphone playback problem

I was hoping someone could help. I am unable to listen to CDs using
headphones, the speakers work fine. I have changed it to non digital and
downlaoded the most recent drivers but still no joy. I am using a Sony DVD/CD
and a Creative Audigy 2 ZS soundcard

Using the headphone connection off the CD drive itself or off the speakers
or out of the soundcard/chipset connection?
