Cd / DVD Burner Stall

Any time I put a cd rom or dvd rom into my drive the computer frezzes, if I
push the eject button the disk comes out and the computer unfrezzes. If I
restart with the disk in the drive to is ok, but I do not want to have to
restart everytime I do this.... Any Help?
