cd burner and dvd burner

I change out my cd burner with a dvd/cd burner combo. How do I get it to
write to the dvd burner. I was able to sent music file to E drive and burn
them with the cd burner. But I can't get it to work with the dvd burner.

You would need to install a third-party CD recording program,
such as Nero. Windows XP's built-in CD recording program
only works with a CD-R or CD-RW drive, not a DVD-R or
DVD-RW drive.

Not you not receive a free DVD recording program with
your new DVD burner?
