cd and dvd drive will not auto update menu information

Hi everyone, I have a problem I hope you can help me with, this being that when I insert a new cd or dvd into any of my drives (D:,E:,F:) the computer does not read and display the new information, the previos media's menu stays on the screen until I shut down and restart windows. I am running windows xp pro on a 2.4gh machine, with 1 gig ram and a 60 gig hard drive on board sound and a ge force 4 mx4000 graphics card. I hope you can help me as i cannot install several of my games as they are on multiple cd's and it doesn't recognise that the second cd has gone into the drive
 
is Autorun disabled perhaps??
