(Catch 22) Online Support

R

RandyB

I am unable to boot into windows XP and would like to try
the online support option to find out why not. When I try
to log in, I am asked for my product ID #. In the
instructions on how to locate the ID #, it says to go to
start then click on....
Well obviously I am unable to do that, so is there any way
of getting that information while I am unable to boot into
XP? Would it be on the disk itself or on the packaging?

Thanks

The Product ID number is generated once Windows XP is installed.
It is not on the CD or contained within the packaging. You can give
Microsoft support a telephone call, or take a few moments to adequately
describe your problem and post to this newsgroup.

Microsoft Support did tell me they can generate Product ID from CD Key if
you ask.

Thanks for your reply. I will give MS a call, but in the
interim, I did post my problem a few days ago, but got no
replies. It is in this forum "TRAP EXCEPTION". It is on
page 4 or 5. Please let me know if you have any idea what
it means.

Thanks,

RandyB
