Capturing Video Way too Fast???

I backed up some videos from my camcorder a few months ago and had no
problem. I put them on an external portable drive. Anyway yesterday i was
trying to backup some new video and movie maker is capturing the video at
first correctly but then it starts capturing it in super fast motion - the
voices are sped up so they sound really strange and the video is super fast
also. I thought maybe it was the disck but i tried two others. Then i tried a
new external hard drive and it still kept doing it.

Any idea why this would happen or how to fix?
thanks

it is a canon ZR45. And i'm doing the capture wizard and choosing the file
types it recommends which are video setting - best quality for playback on my
computer (recommended) then Capture Method - capture the entire tape
automatically. Then the type rewinds and it begins capturing. FOr the first
5 seconds or so it is normal then it goes into warp speed. The other strange
thing i noticed last night is after this happens and i close our of windows
maker my computer seems really faster in terms of opening things. it's like
my computer goes into hyper drive??
