capture device not working

a few months ago i installed some versions of directx and
every since then my video capture device will not capture
any video. i tried torestore my computer and every thing
i can think of but nothing works. What can I do ?

What is the capture device? Have you installed any updates from the
manufacturer, or checked that it is compatible with the latest directx?
